I'm very happy to say that I've got my mom hooked on Twilight. I knew she'd enjoy reading the series, in fact I was a little hesitant to ask her if she was interested in reading Twilight since I knew I'd have to lend her my copy.Fortunately she's a fast reader... and who is able to put the book down once you get into it anyway? It was only on loan for a couple days, but I did let her know my small disclaimer that if I needed it at anytime to check something or get a little fix that I had the right to ask for it back temporarily.
Anyway, she loved it (of course) and then asked for my copy of New Moon. I'm thrilled to have her finish the series for a few reasons (all of which are completely selfish)... First, I want my books back! (that sounds so bad but I feel a little lost without them at my fingertips if need be). Second, I can't wait to hear what she thinks about the whole saga. Spoiler Alert: She totally thinks Bella stays human forever since Edward is so opposed to changing her!!! I wish I could see her reaction when she gets through Breaking Dawn. And lastly: I'll have a pretty valid excuse to watch the movie (yet again!!!).

I know exactly what you mean ... when I have mine loaned out (to which I can say that I've converted at least 5 people, and still have one more person on my wait list), it's painful!
I just converted the boys vice principal and she kept saying (while reading Twilight) "James is going to change her and then Edward isn't going to want her etc ..." I giggled at her and said "OME, you read ahead ...how did you know that's what happened"! Luckily she knows me well enough that she knows I'm full of poop.
My mom totally thought that Edward left for good and was sooooooo pissed at him for leaving Bella! It was all I could do to tell her "I know... it really sucks!" and then she finished the book and is asking how long until she can have Eclipse. Well, I'm re-reading it at the moment and won't finish it until at least tomorrow. I'll make her sweat it out a bit. Mean huh? I should give it to her first thing in the morning. I wouldn't be able to wait. I'm just so excited she loves it! Goes to show you... There's something in it for everyone (from a young girl who only wishes she could experience the divinity and romance to a mature... I say that politely... woman in her late 60's who appreciates the human condition and all life has to offer). I just love it!
